Convertors where from 1984 by Select.
It was one of the many transforming toy lines like Transformers and Gobots
They had robots that turned into vehicles and animals.
The Convertors licensed some of their toy designs from Bandai just as was done for the Transformers. The molds for Convertors were later knocked off by other toy companies. Convertors toys were featured in a display in the 1985 J. C. Penney Christmas catalog.
The Convertors toys featured the conflict between heroic Defendors (and their Avian allies) and the evil Maladroids (and their Insectors allies).
The series in the line included Avarians, Defenders, Super Defenders, Jumbo Defenders, Insectors, Maladroids, Spies and Mini Bots.
