In 1982, there was an explosion of M*A*S*H-related merchandise, from games, t-shirts, shotglasses, train sets and action figures. The is a series of books that you can still get in paperback very cheap in used book stores.
The 3 3/4" figures were released by Tri-Star in 1982, with the line consisting of Hawkeye, B.J., Col. Potter, Margaret "Hot Lips" Houlihan, Winchester, Klinger, Klinger in drag and Father Mulcahy.
The vehicles available was the jeep, Dodge ambulance and the helicopter. Each vehicle included a G.I. figure which was actually a blonde-haired version of Hawkeye with an unpainted torso and eyes.
Also available was the M*A*S*H playset. It included a large 4'x4' playmat and all the buildings your M*A*S*H figures needed to play on. The Mess Tent, Headquarters, Potter's Office, Klinger's Office, and the Post-Op Building and The Swamp. The vinyl playmat is fully illustrated and includes the helipad for the Helicopter. The box mentions that it will work with any 3 3/4" action figures
Durham also produced two 9" action figures of Hawkeye and Margaret "Hot Lips" Houlihan who are unnamed on the packaging, but were obviously meant to represent Hawkeye and Hot Lips, black and white photographs from the series on the cards focused heavily of Alan Alda and Loretta Swit. Both came with goofy looking hats and wore white cloth surgical gowns. The Hawkeye figure comes with 2 golf clubs while the Hot Lips figure has a white suitcase with the Red Cross logo on it. There was also a large Helicopter available for the figures in this scale. Durham also produced friction powered M*A*S*H vehicles.
The other rare and expensive piece to find complete is the M*A*S*H Bachmann HO scale train set. It features a 45″ x 36″ oval track and 89 pieces, including five train cars, a plastic jeep, a plastic helicopter, a water tower, 10 cardboard buildings, 48 plastic figurines and paper to be used as a mountain backdrop.
There was a 4 figure collector set that was never released for sale. The figures in the set included B.J., Col. Potter, Winchester and Klinger.
